Diagnostic Criteria and Therapeutic Treatment of Malignant Hyperthermia

Diagnostic Criteria and Therapeutic Treatment of Malignant Hyperthermia

The diagnostic criteria for malignant hyperthermia as follow:

Fulminant malignant hyperthermia (f-MH): A and B

Amblyopia malignant hyperthermia (a-MH): Non A and B

A: Temperature rise

The highest temperature40

38.5℃<highest temperature40, but increased body temperature or0.5/min

B: Other clinical manifestations

Tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, respiratory/metabolic acidosis, skeletal muscle stiffness, decrease in blood pressure, myoglobinuria, hemoglobinuria, creatine phosphokinase (CPK),etc.

If untreated, mortality was more than 70%.

The therapeutic and treatment of malignant hyperthermia:

  • Stop using suspicious anesthetic drugs and abort the operation

  • 100% pure oxygen hyperventilation

  • Replace the non-reabsorbed breathing thread tube

  • Use of Dantrolene

  • Cooling measures: in vitro and in vivo

  • Send to ICU: monitor treatment, CRRT treatment as early as possible, and deal with multiple organ dysfunctions

  • After timely and effective treatment, the death rate can dropped to about 7%
