The body produces heat as a result of cellular metabolism.

The influencing factors include basal metabolic rate, muscle activity, increased sympathetic activity, increased hormone secretion, and excessive intake of foreign calories.

The process of heat dissipation is mainly through radiation, conduction, convection and evaporation, and is affected by the diastolic conditions of peripheral blood vessels, ambient temperature, humidity and air convection.

The heat loss account for 60%(radiation), 3%(conduction), 12%(convection) and 25%(evaporation), respectively.


Body temperature regulation system, including hypothalamus, spinal cord, deep central tissue, skin, etc. are involved in the regulation of body temperature.

The information of thermoregulation includes afferent temperature sensation central regulation and efferent response.

When the average body temperature falls below the threshold for a cold response, it causes the peripheral blood vessels to contract and the body may shiver.

When the average body temperature exceeds the high temperature threshold, vasoconstriction occurs, and the body sweats to reduce heat.

When the average body temperature is between the two, there is no thermoregulatory response.


Since most temperature input signals come from deep tissues such as the abdominal cavity, chest cavity, spinal cord and brain, no region of the body temperature can be called a "standard temperature".

But using disposable temperature probe to detect the error of the human body core temperature have little more than 0.2 , so usually from the eardrum, esophagus and rectum to monitor the core temperature, and pay attention to the process of dynamic change.
